Look for new opportunities for action, education, community, and solidarity in and around McHenry County here every week.
Anti-ICE and Military Occupation Protests. The Border Patrol goons and their commander may have departed for Charlotte, North Carolina, endorsement and random kidnapping continue with no end in sight. Hundreds of those arrested without warrant or probable cause have been ordered released and given court dates, but many have already been deported or self-deported. Despite this, ICE activity is increasing in McHenry County. Daily protests continue at the Broadview receiving/detention center, in and around the Loop, and in communities across the region. Last Friday morning an interfaith prayer protest was met with heavy handed treatment by local Broadview Police and Sheriff’s deputies when they crossed a police line expecting arrest. Several have been charged with obstruction of traffic, and some may be charged with felonies.
