ICE gassing protestors outside the Broadview processing/detention center. Attacks have also escalated in residential neighborhoods.
Over the last week things have escalated to critical levels across the board with ICE running rampant across the country but particularly in “Democratic” states and cities committing mayhem and distress. Federalized troops have been dispatched to Blue cities and while their deployment has often been blocked by Court orders everyone holds their breath to see if Trump and his stooges will obey those orders or use some pretext to declare a national emergency and assume dictatorial power. Political enemies have been indicted after career prosecutors were axed and replaced by MAGA toadies and loyalists. Threats of arrests and even execution of broad numbers of journalists, activists, and even ordinary citizens who speak up too loudly are made at the highest levels. Public institutions have been destroyed or are threatened. The government shutdown has become an excuse to fire more essential Federal employes and “permanently eliminate” a laundry list of “Democrat programs” that benefit poor and working people. We have never teetered as dangerously on the edge of a full fascist take over or civil war. That’s the pus on the mirror.
The squeeze is the No Kings Day, the return of the highly successful nation-wide protests sponsored nationally by 50501—50 protests, 50 states,1 movement; Indivisible; Move-On; and other organizations this Saturday, October 18. More than 2200 actions have been planned across the country and organizers anticipate the biggest national protests ever. Speaker of the House Michael Johnson, Vice President J.D. Vance and other high administrative figures have denounced the movement as “Hate America” rallies by terrorists like the Portland naked bike riders and “paid actors.”

The creative resistance in Portland featuring inflatable dancing frogs, T-Rexes, Unicorns, and clowns has belied those ludicrous charges and made both would-be autocrats and their rent-a-thugs look weak and ridiculous. Those tactics have been so successful that local organizers are encouraging participants to do the same.
Indivisible McHenry County urges participants to get in the spirit of the Portland Frog and resistance at the road side vigil in McHenry this Saturday.

IndivisibleNWIL also scheduled an event in Crystal Lake along Rt. 14 centered on 5650 Northwest Highway from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
