The mission of Woodstock Area Community Ministry is to generate leadership and resources to provide emergency assistance to homeless people within McHenry County, and to community members who are in financial crisis and reside within the boundaries of Woodstock School District #200
Its programs include supervision of the Woodstock PADS rotating homeless shelter site and Day Time Drop-in facility, as well as the Direct Assistance Program (DAP) which provides emergency cash and other forms of assistance to those in need who fall through the cracks of other programs.
Last year WACM provided $45,282.02 to help the needy in our community.  It distributed $24,740 in food, $10,025 in clothing, $524 in utilities, $8480 in gasoline, $1444 in bus passes, and $427 in medical expenses.  On average WACM helps 120 children and 111 adults each month.

October is WACM month and the organization, which receives no government funds, relies on fund raising programs this time of the year to continue its work.  A cook book, Recipes from the Heart: A Collection of WACM’s Best Recipes will be on sale for $14.95 each or 3 for $40.00 at Read Between the Lynes bookstore on the Woodstock Square.  The best cooks and bakers from a dozen area congregations have contributed over 260 recipes to the hardcover collectionProceeds from the cookbook sales support the PADS site and Drop in Center.
