National Women’s March 2024—Bigger than Roe v Wade

Note—This post was adapted from the National Women’s March 2024 call.

As the National Womens March approaches January 22, 2024, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, “we reaffirm our commitment to reproductive freedom for all.  The campaign extends to every state and every legislator, challenging politicians at all levels: if you threaten our families, our freedoms, or our future, we will unseat you. We will not stop until we win.”

Drawing inspiration from recent ballot measures, we have witnessed a powerful truth: when abortion rights are on the ballot, we win. These victories illuminate a fundamental reality: a supermajority of Americans supports reproductive freedom.

The weekend of January 20-21, 2024, we unite to send an unequivocal message: Our resolve is unyielding. Our movement is not just about Roe; it is about safeguarding the rights and freedoms for all, now and for future generations. We are the majority, and our voices will be heard.

The National March  will be in Pheonix, Arizona January 20 with mobilizations nationwide.  The campaign is a strategic intervention to galvanize voters for the 2024 elections. We’re showing up to secure abortion access and counter far-right extremism. Join us in the state-by-state battle to defend our rights and shape our future.

Arizona is the next major abortion battleground. In selecting the state for our 2024 National Women’s March, we focus on a key truth: women consistently show up to vote when abortion rights are at stake.  As one of the nine states with anticipated ballot measures around abortion rights, Arizona’s role is crucial.  It’s not just a battleground for rights; it’s a key swing state that will shape the 2024 elections. Our presence here is a statement: Women vote to defend abortion rights, and in doing so, we defend democracy from far-right extremism and GOP policies that threaten our freedoms and values.  RSVP to join us in Phoenix here.

McHenry County Citizens for Choice and McHenry County NOW are co-sponsoring an event to support reproductive rights and protest disinformation being spread by “pregnancy crisis centers  on Saturday,  January 20 at noon at  610 Crystal Point Road in Crystal Lake.   The event will be in person and live streamed.  To register for the event visit here.
