FaithBridge’s Creation Care at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area This Saturday

FaithBridge in partnership with the McHenry County Conservation District, Rotary Clubs of McHenry County, and Advocate Smart Farm, is proud to present Creation Care, a Conservation Celebration on Saturday, September  from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Pleasant Valley Conservation Area, 13115 Pleasant Valley Road, Woodstock, Illinois.

Creation Care is an event designed to engage the community in hands-on environmental stewardship and spiritual reflection. People of all ages are invited to join in activities that promote a deeper connection to the Earth and to each other.

FaithBridge promotes mutual understanding and respectful relationships among diverse religious communities, and to advance understanding of unity and diversity for the common good in McHenry and Lake Counties and adjoining communities.

Pastor Dave Becker of Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation in McHenry and Prairie Circle UU Congregation in Grayslake will facilitate a session on  practical ecology and spirituality. The two congregations have also selected Creation Care as the first monthly joint social justice and service projects for their new  partnership called UUs Show Up.

Event highlights include:

·         Integral Ecology and Spiritual Reflection: Delve into the relationship between ecology and spirituality through thoughtful discussions and presentations.

·          Music, Arts and Storytelling: Enjoy performances by Indigenous flutist Bill Buchhotz, participate in land-based artmaking, storytelling, and a butterfly dance.

·         Interactive Tables and Presentations: Learn about local farming initiatives, the critical role of pollinators, and the importance of bees with insights from Maile Abella of the Rotary Lake in the Hills Club and Scott Daniels of the Rotary Glenview – Sunrise Club.

·         Tree and Pollinator Planting: Join efforts to plant trees and pollinator plants, contributing to the creation of tomorrow’s forest and supporting local ecosystems.
