Walking the Walk—An Action Calendar for McHenry County for September 26

NO KINGS San Diego, CA · Progressive Democrats of America

Anti-ICE and Military Occupation Protests are occurring daily in Chicago, around the Great Lakes Naval Station from which ICE is deploying, and in suburban and collar county communities with high Latinx population sponsored by various organizations and coalitions.  ICE enforcement activity is well under way and over 500 victims have been snatched.  Defenders and witnesses at the Broadview ICE holding center have been attacked with pepper spray, tear gas, and rubber projectiles and have been thrown to the ground and assaulted.  ICE was reported to be planning to close the facility until Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem decided to make it a test of wills.  Demonstrators were threatened with prosecution and new fencing was put up on city streets around the facility.

No Kings Day the highly successful nation-wide protests sponsored nationally by 50501—50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement, are back on Saturday, October 18.  Massive marches are expected in Chicago and most major cities and state capitals.  Indivisible McHenry County will host a roadside vigil at State Rt. 31 and McCullom Lake Road in McHenry from 11 am to 1 pm.  IndivisibleNWIL has also scheduled an event roadside in Crystal Lake along Rt. 14 centered on 5650 Northwest Highway from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
